Blatt Beer & Table : A Great Group Experience
Restaurant: Blatt Beer and Table West Omaha
Date: 12/21/14
Blatt Beer and Table’s second restaurant, first in West Omaha, brings a very hip atmosphere to the microbrew scene. The restaurant is known for their rotating menu of beers both draught and bottled, but what people may not realize, is that their food is really awesome too.
My wife and I have been there three times, each time impressed by the food and the service. The first time, was just the two of us, we returned later with my mother, then with two friends from work.
Firstly, I know next to nothing about beer, and really want to learn. I was shocked at the two page menu of just beers, when my waitress asked me a few questions, and picked one that I would enjoy. I don’t remember what beer that was, but I did enjoy it. I was impressed by her knowledge, and that she knew her menu very well.
Secondly, the food is amazing. Their Buffalo Chachos can easily be overlooked as a gimmicky version of Nachos, but their chips really make this rise above the gimmick. The bacon and the sriracha buffalo sauce, combined with the blue cheese sauce makes this a perfect appetizer for anyone who loves hot wings. It isn’t super spicy, but it does leave a pleasant burn in your mouth.
Their Chicken Tenders are some of the best I’ve had anywhere. So good in fact, each time I’ve been there, I’ve ordered the “Strips and Frites”. The same sauce that covers the Chachos is featured fully here, coating huge strips in its savory goodness. What makes these the best: Texture. Sometimes, chicken fingers’ breading gets soggy amidst their saucy coating, but these chicken fingers do not. Each and every bite has savory sauce, juicy chicken, and a satisfying crunch that makes eating them a pure pleasure.
My wife, my mother, and our friends have sampled their various burgers, and they have all enjoyed them. My mom who is quite the picky eater, said it is one of her favorite burgers in Omaha.
One thing we did notice was that there are two entrances to this restaurant and no host stand. The seats are first come first serve, and first timers can sometimes be seen wondering if it is okay to sit down or looking around for a host. It is very crowded on most nights, which may contribute to the confusion. Be prepared to wait a few minutes even for a seat at the bar. It gets crowded
All in all, the food experience at Blatt Beer and Table is definitely going to be a must eat location out in West Omaha. The kinks are expected in a new restaurant, but I’m sure over time they will get that right. It’s a great place for a couple who enjoys good food and good drinks, but bring a couple friends or family, and the experience is greatly increased.
